Revelan nuevos detalles de la gira de Meghan y Harry por África

El príncipe Harry, su esposa Meghan y su bebé Archie, de cuatro meses, realizarán desde el lunes su primera visita oficial en familia desde el nacimiento de su hijo.

El duque y la duquesa de Sussex comenzarán su viaje de diez días en Ciudad del Cabo, Sudáfrica, destino popular entre los turistas por sus enormes playas y viñedos, pero gangrenado por la violencia de pandillas.

"Nuestra familia va a realizar su primer viaje oficial a África, una región del mundo que en las últimas dos décadas ha sido mi segundo hogar", dijo Harry este mes en su cuenta de Instagram. "Estoy deseando que mi esposa e hijo conozcan Sudáfrica", añadió.

El momento culminante de su estancia en Ciudad del Cabo será el encuentro el miércoles con el Premio Nobel de la Paz Desmond Tutu, una de las personalidades ineludibles de la lucha contra el apartheid y amigo cercano del ex presidente sudafricano Nelson Mandela.

A partir del jueves, el príncipe continuará su gira en solitario en Botsuana, Angola y Malawi, mientras que su esposa permanecerá con Archie en Sudáfrica para asistir a otros compromisos.

En Botsuana, donde viven un tercio de los elefantes salvajes del continente, Harry se interesará por la protección de la fauna. Luego viajará a Angola, donde seguirá los pasos de su madre Diana, que se había comprometido contra las minas antipersonales durante un viaje a ese país en 1997, meses antes de su trágico accidente automovilístico en París.

El príncipe Harry, de 35 años de edad, tiene previsto visitar un programa de remoción de minas en Huambo, centrooeste de Angola, y un hospital ortopédico. Durante los 27 años de la guerra civil (1975-2002) se sembraron más de 1 millón de minas antipersonales en ese país.
