La Asociación de Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood (HFPA), la encargada de otorgar los Golden Globes, anunció este lunes sus nominaciones a la edición número 79. The Power Of The Dog de Netflix y Belfast de Focus Features, lideran las candidaturas con siete menciones; mientras que Succession, el serial de HBO, encabeza la sección de programas de televisión con cinco postulaciones.
Las nominaciones fueron anunciadas por la presidenta de la HFPA, Helen Hoehne, y el rapero Snoop Dogg. Este año el anuncio sucede en medio de una severa apatía y ante un boicot por diversos integrantes de la industria que se han manifestado en contra de los mecanismos de selección, prácticas poco éticas y una contundente falta de diversidad.

La ceremonia se llevará a cabo el próximo 9 de enero. Aún no se sabe el futuro de la transmisión ya que, ante la polémica, tanto los publicistas y las cadenas de televisión han tomado distancia del evento que se consideraba la inauguración de la temporada de premios.
